About STEAM Magnet

 

Established in the fall 1999, the RFMS Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) provides an educational experience that allows students to realize their educational goals by actively engaging in an integrated scientific, mathematical and technologically oriented program. Our first priority is to promote the welfare and academic success of students by designing programs and activities to help students develop academic competencies, real life skills, critical thinking, creative abilities, and technological skills. We seek to foster a rigorous curriculum and understanding of the Common Core State Standards that will create lifelong learners, college and career ready, in the 21st century.

Students have access to digital multimedia equipment for recording, editing, playback and presentation. Throughout the instructional program, students apply, refine and extend computer and Internet related competencies. This learning is enhanced throughSTEAM elective course offerings progressing from mastery of Microsoft Office Package and Google Platform, extending to computer programming/coding and web design. Students apply skills in contexts that make connections between school, community, work, and the global enterprise enabling the development of STEAM literacy and with it the ability to compete in the new economy.

 

Envisioning a future where innovation knows no bounds, the Frost Middle School STEAM Magnet program aspires to cultivate a community of creative thinkers and problem solvers. Through an interdisciplinary approach that seamlessly integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, we empower students to explore, experiment, and excel. Our vision is to inspire the next generation of leaders who embrace diversity, collaboration, and resilience, leveraging STEAM principles to tackle real-world challenges and shape a brighter tomorrow for all.

 

 

Our mission is to empower students to realize their educational aspirations through hands-on, interdisciplinary learning experiences. By prioritizing academic success and fostering critical thinking, creativity, and technological proficiency, we prepare our students to thrive in the 21st-century landscape. With access to a variety of digital multimedia equipment and a progression of STEAM courses, students develop the skills and literacy necessary to compete in the global economy. Through structured inquiry-based learning and a focus on sustainability, we equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle complex challenges. By increasing awareness of STEAM fields and occupations, especially among underrepresented populations, we aim to inspire the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers, fostering lifelong learners poised to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
