Mrs. Snider, 6th Grade Counselor
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am so happy to be back for my 18th year at Frost Middle School as your 6th grade counselor! I look forward to being your counselor for all three years of middle school.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. I earned by Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Teaching Credential from CSUN. I graduated with my Master's degree, Counseling Credential, and Pupil Services and Attendance Credential (PSAC) from California Lutheran University.
I have worked for LAUSD since 1997 as a teacher's assistant, teacher, and now as a counselor. I taught elementary school (grades PreK - 3rd) for 9 years before coming to Frost as a counselor in 2007.
I have been married since 2002 and have two children (ages 19 and 15). We have a chihuahua mix dog named Charlie. I love arts and crafts, such as coloring pages and watercolor, crocheting, and drinking coffee.
Are you wondering what I do in the office and around campus?
WHAT DOES A SCHOOL COUNSELOR DO?
My role as the school counselor is to provide social-emotional and academic support to students. I do this through a three-tiered process.
Tier 1: Class Visits/Lessons - All Students
Tier 2: Group Counseling - Referred Students
Tier 3: Individual Counseling - Referred Students
Students come to see the counselor individually to discuss:
- Problems with friends
- Issues with a teacher
- Academic grades
- Having a bad day
- Working through feelings
- Argument with siblings or parents
Class Lessons include topics such as:
- Study Skills
- Test Taking Skills
- Individualized Graduation Plans (IGP)
- Culmination Requirements
- Social-Emotional Lessons (SEL)
- Support Personnel on campus
